Kyle Nordfors

A seasoned aviation professional with over 25 years of experience across a broad spectrum of aircraft, Kyle is currently serving as a Captain of a Boeing 737 for a major U.S. airline. 


Kyle's passion for flight and commitment to public safety have uniquely positioned him at the intersection of aviation and life-saving technology. As an integral member of the Weber County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team in Northern Utah for the past decade, Kyle serves as the Air Operations Division Lead, where he has spearheaded the integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into search and rescue (SAR) missions. 


Kyle was recently honored with the Rex L. Huntsman Memorial Award for Volunteer Service by the State of Utah Search and Rescue Association for implementing drone technology into SAR operations. His leadership in developing UAS standard operating procedures, grounded in best practices from the aviation industry, has set a benchmark for public safety UAS search and rescue operations.



In his broader role as the UAS Chair for the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA), a position he has held for the last two years, Kyle has become a key figure in the international SAR community. He has traveled extensively to share his expertise, helping teams around the world implement advanced aerial SAR techniques.  Known for his pioneering work in UAS applications, he has significantly enhanced the efficiency and safety of SAR operations globally. 


As a highly respected leader and instructor, Kyle Nordfors continues to inspire and guide the next generation of search and rescue professionals in harnessing the power of UAS technology to save lives.
